News Debut collection from poet Colin Dardis Verbal is enormously proud of our own Colin Dardis, whose debut poetry collection 'The x of y' has just been published by Eyewear, London. The x of y Colin tells us: 'It’s incredibly exciting to be releasing this book, and I’m very grateful to Eyewear and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland for all their support in helping to make it happen. The poems deal with some hard questions about how we cope with the challenges of life, but I hope readers will see the joy present in the work too.' Reality and escapism, protection and peeling away, prayer and sacrilege, resistance and surrender. Navigating an often complex and uneven playing field, Colin Dardis strives to find balance from a life constantly fluctuating between profit and loss. The poems on offer here explore questions of existence and identity, asking who we really are, and how we can possibly be. Colin Dardis is well known to Northern Irish literature lovers as editor of Lagan Online. With his wife, Geraldine O'Kane, he runs the popular open mic night, Purely Poetry, at the Crescent Arts Centre in Belfast. The book is available to order online via Eyewear Publishing. A Belfast launch is happening at Linen Hall Library on Thursday, May 3, 5.30-7pm, with further book tour dates to be announced.
