We are delighted to announce the launch of our Community Lives project in Enniskillen and Omagh, which will run from September 2018 through to January 2019.

Group in community lives Reading RoomUsing our Reading Rooms model as an integral feature, the project will have three phases.

Phase 1 - capturing the history

Bringing together adults from different religious backgrounds, Verbal will deliver Reading Rooms using literature from local authors to evoke conversation, memories, and stories. Together, we will record and represent living history in the towns of Enniskillen and Omagh.

The Groups will work with a professional photographer to produce an exhibition which will go on display locally. They will also produce publications and online materials.

Phase 2 - mapping the present

This aim of phase 2 is to work with community and youth groups across Enniskillen and Omagh. We will bring them together through the development of skills in film-making, photography, and mixed-media.

Participants will have the opportunity to create short digital stories highlighting the challenges young adults are facing now.

Phase 3 - imagining the future

The final phase will bring together phases 1 and 2 of the programme. The approach is inter-generational and participants will share a series of sessions. Using Reading Rooms, they will create opportunities to have their voices heard and to develop their visions of a shared future.

The Project is administered by Fermanagh and Omagh District Council and the Peace IV Partnership, under the European Union's PEACE IV programme. It is delivered by Verbal.
