READING ROOMS – YOUTH PROGRAMME

Reading Rooms is a volunteer-led, innovative shared reading programme based in the community that uses poetry and prose to engage with young people who are hard to reach in care and/or on the edge of care.

Reading Rooms uses literary narrative to abstract and simulate social experience in relation to mental health. Narrative fiction creates a deep and immersive experience of social interactions for readers. Through the selection of bespoke literature participants are taken on a journey which is clearly mapped out using a low threshold CBT model.
