Listen Share Change celebrated Good Relations Week with its groups and volunteers in Limavady and Ballymoney this week. Good Relations Week is an annual event, celebrating people playing an active part in creating and sustaining good relationships across the community. The programme of events is coordinated by the Community Relations Council in conjunction with The Executive Office and the Department for Communities.

The theme of Good Relations Week 2019 is “People Making Change for Peace”, which is a core aim of the Listen Share Change programme to support the network of Neighbourhood Champions to make a positive change in their communities.

Regional Coordinator, Gareth Doran from Northern Ireland Housing Executive and Project Officer, Andy Warmington from The Verbal hosted a celebration event on Monday 16th September for The Glens and Bovalley community groups. Gareth and Andy wanted to thank the groups for completing the programme and discuss options for them to continue meeting for storytelling and conversation sessions and take part in further community cohesion activities with the support of Northern Ireland Housing Executive.

The team also visited Castle Community Centre to award certificates of recognition to two of the programme’s Neighbourhood Champions, Anthony and Lorraine McKay, who have led two groups in the Ballymoney area through the programme and been dedicated advocates for shared reading and cross-community conversation.
