Welcome to Poetry Day Ireland!

We dropped in on the residents of Owen Mor Care Centre who take part in Reading Rooms and delivered a few poetry surprises.

Pocket poems

We distributed the colourful pocket poems among participants, and these are available to read and download on the Poetry Day Ireland website.

Getting ready to read

Here we have Bobby, with Seamus Heaney's Postscript; Sadie and Andy with Padraig Regan's Love Poem with Sandwiches; and Christine with Moya Cannon's Do the Sums.

We had fun sharing the poem by Rita Ann Higgins called Dirty Dancer. The man in the Hong Kong park was not what we were expecting.

Having read William Wordsworth, The World is Too Much With Us this week, we we were pleased that the old man could get away from his apartment on the 80th floor and out into the park to experience a little of nature. In his own way. Our readers were more likely to breathe the clean air, admire the trees and flowers, or take a walk
