Over the Summer months, Verbal has worked with Praxis on a Reading Rooms project with adults, exploring themes of health and well-being. The project was called Beyond Words.

A fruitful partnership

Praxis empowers both children and adults who have mental ill health, learning disability or acquired brain injury to enjoy life.

One of the cornerstones of Reading Rooms is enjoyment, so the project partnership between Praxis and Verbal was well made.

Collaborative choices

The team at Verbal worked with participants to select literature used in the weekly sessions. Specific issues around health and well-being were discussed among participants, and these informed the literature choices.

A celebration

In a celebration event to mark the end of the project, we recognised participants' courage in sharing their thoughts and experiences in the Reading Rooms environment.

The group received certificates of completion from our volunteer facilitator, Diane Marshall.
