Do you enjoy reading? Would you like to join a team that shares this passion to help others in the community? Have you an hour or more to spare every week?

Reading Rooms is a Verbal programme that uses a shared reading model to help participants to share ideas, thoughts or memories and start conversations. The Reading Rooms programme is delivered to children throughout Donegal and Derry in community locations such as schools and libraries.

We provide our volunteers with:

  • A bespoke, three day, OCN Level 2 accredited course in Facilitation Skills for Shared Reading free of charge
  • We also provide current safeguarding training and Access NI certification.
  • We select the literature used in Reading Rooms and provide you with copies for participants
  • New volunteers are supported while they settle into their role and there are monthly meetings to share experiences and benefit from peer-support.
