Stories for Change
Stories for Change is a storytelling and podcasting project with young people in Cavan and Monaghan, tackling discrimination and misinformation
About the programme
Introducing Stories for Change, an eight-week storytelling and podcasting programme with young people in Cavan and Monaghan, led by Cavan County Local Development with Verbal Arts Centre, Creative Cavan and Creative Monaghan.
The programme works with a group of 10 to 15 young people, meeting weekly at The Bridge Street Centre in Cavan and Peace Link in Clones. Its subject is discrimination and the spread of misinformation.
Verbal provides the delivery team: a lead storytelling facilitator, a psychologist and a podcast producer. Each participant writes their own story and builds a storyboard from it. The group records a podcast series across the eight weeks.
The storyboards are exhibited at Cavan and Clones libraries. A set of training resources is produced from the work and distributed to community groups and schools in both counties.
This project is supported by Creative Ireland and Cavan County Council through the Creative Cavan Open Call.
