Crows on the Wire, commissioned by the Verbal Arts Centre in 2013, is a play by Jonathan Burgess. It is set on November 3, 2001, the day the Royal Ulster Constabulary (RUC) became the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI).

Community engagement

In keeping with Verbal's vision of every story matters, Crows on the wire became more than a theatre piece. As well as hearing the stories of police officers as they faced the transition, Verbal devised workshops with schools and community groups to explore the issues in the play, such as:

  • Cultural identity
  • Sectarianism
  • Conflict
  • Change
  • Equality
